Agent Program

The Micro Beef Agent Program is a part of our Micro Beef Process Verified Program. Micro Beef Agents have been trained, tested, and are qualified to perform on-site age- and/or source-verification audits.

What does a Micro Beef Agent do?
Micro Beef Agents perform on-site audits at customer's farm, ranch, or place of business. They are performing audits which verify that the information recorded in Micro Beef is correct. For example, if a Micro Beef customer records that his calves were born in May 2005, the Agent will conduct an audit to verify that age information.

Why do you need to audit customer information?

On-site audits of animal information are required by many marketing programs and are considered the gold standard for information accuracy and integrity. In fact, USDA policy requires on-site audits for inclusion in many export marketing programs.

Why do we use Micro Beef Agents?

Micro Beef Agents are a vital resource for producers qualifying cattle for marketing programs. By using someone in their local agricultural community to verify age and source information, they have someone who is familiar with their herd, their processes, and can more accurately audit their information than an outsider who knows nothing about their operation.

Who can be a Micro Beef Agent?

Anyone that successfully completes Micro Beef Agent training may be certified as a Micro Beef Agent. Veterinarians, feed store employees, or even your local livestock market can complete the training program and begin verifying your information and qualifying cattle for various marketing programs.

How much does it cost to become a Micro Beef Agent?
There is no charge to become a Micro Beef Agent.

Are Micro Beef Agents compensated?
No, Micro Beef Agents may not be compensated as it may constitute a conflict of interest. Many Micro Beef Agents are performing this service as a complement to an existing data collection and cattle management service or veterinary practice.
